Avis has enlisted the services of EnviroServ waste Management Services

Aware that South Africa’s landfill sites are under increasing pressure, Avis has enlisted the services of EnviroServ Waste Management to help it implement an integrated waste management system and recycling programme at its offices around the country.
Avis chief executive Wayne Duvenage says that Avis is deeply committed to an effective environmental sustainability programme. “Our partnership with EnviroServ is one of many initiatives we have implemented in our drive to reduce our carbon footprint,” he says
Some of these initiatives include achieving carbon neutral status, sponsoring several environmental projects, conserving 75-million litres of water a year and launching an internal Avis Earth Champions programme.
In conjunction with EnviroServ, Avis will identify and minimise waste streams as well as harness recycling opportunities at its head office and regional offices throughout South Africa. EnviroServ will provide Avis with a sustainability report as a benchmark for future recycling targets.
Duvenage says Avis is committed to exploring all opportunities that will help take the car rental company to “greener” heights. “Our planet is under threat and it is up to everyone, from the largest global corporation to every individual in his or her personal capacity, to take action that will help reduce that threat,” he says.
